EXPLORE THE ACADEMY

About

Manchester Academy is a collection of four interconnected venues: Academy 1, Academy 2, Academy 3 and Club Academy, each offering a different capacity and atmosphere. Together, they form one of the most important live music destinations in the North of England.

With capacities ranging from a few hundred to over 2,600 guests, the Academy complex is known for hosting artists at pivotal moments in their careers. From intimate shows and album tours to sold-out club nights and alternative events, Manchester Academy provides a close-to-the-stage experience that fans love.

Situated on Oxford Road, the venue is surrounded by the energy of the student district while remaining within easy reach of Manchester city centre. A historic venue that remains a key stop on the UK touring circuit.

When you’re visiting Manchester to catch a headline gig, an emerging artist or a multi-night club event, staying nearby lets you experience the city’s music culture to the fullest. Hotel Indigo Manchester offers a stylish, centrally located base just a short journey from the venue.

Live Music

Manchester Academy is synonymous with live music in Manchester. Its stages have welcomed internationally recognised acts, cult favourites and rising stars across genres including indie, rock, pop, electronic, hip hop and alternative music.

Whilst larger arenas can often cause visitors to feel left out of the action, Manchester Academy is prized for its intimate atmosphere, with fans feeling a part of the action through every song. Many artists choose the venue for special shows, warm-up gigs or multiple-night residencies, creating a unique buzz that’s hard to replicate elsewhere.

Catch a cheeky weekday gig or make a weekend of it with a headline show. Manchester Academy has a jam-packed calendar all year-round, a true must-visit for music lovers.

Club Nights & Special Events

In addition to concerts, Manchester Academy is famous for its club nights and alternative events, particularly within Club Academy and Academy 2. Popular themed nights, student events and touring club brands regularly draw crowds late into the night.

The venue also hosts comedy performances, spoken-word events and specialist music nights, offering a diverse programme that reflects Manchester’s creative spirit. Whether you’re attending a late-night club event or an early evening gig, Manchester Academy delivers an energetic and authentic experience.
